A top line up of expert speakers will be heading to TotalDairy Expo in Carlisle, in the New Year to share the latest thinking in practical dairy farming.

Following on from the success of this year’s inaugural event, the one day technical dairy conference will be returning to the North on Friday 11 March 2016. Tickets are now on sale for the event, which will again be held in conjunction with the UK Dairy Expo.

Julia Moorhouse from event organisers, EBVC explains that TotalDairy Expo is designed to provide practical take home messages for farmers.

“All of the speakers at TotalDairy Expo will be delivering practical advice that can be implemented on farm. They will be covering five key topics, relevant to all dairy businesses including mastitis, fertility, foot health, nutrition and breeding,” she says.

The event runs from 10am to 4.30pm. Speakers include:

  • James Breen, The University of Nottingham - “Mastitis Control - An evidence based approach to selective dry cow therapy.”
  • John Cook from Valley Agricultural Software - “An approach to dairy herd reproductive management.”
  • Will Tulley, EBVC - “Practical solutions for improved milk quality.”
  • Nick Bell, Royal Veterinary College - Who will be running a “Foot trimming discussion panel” with three foot trimmers.
  • Iwan Thomas, Holstein UK - “Breeding for function not fashion.”

The conference is lead sponsored by Zinpro and Elanco, and takes place the day before the UK Dairy Expo at Borderway Mart, Carlisle. TotalDairy Expo will be held at The Shepherds Conference Centre which is adjacent to Borderway Mart, making it ideally located to pop across to see the showing classes at UK Dairy Expo, some of which start on the Friday afternoon.
