Ask John Pye of Gibson Farm near Quernmore, Lancashire to discuss his herd priorities and without a doubt, breeding functional, long lasting cows with good health traits will be at the top of his list.
The Pye family’s passion for the health and welfare of their herd impressed the judges and they stormed the competition with a 16 year old, Meadowstream Ebony Coni daughter, Quernmore Buttercup 120 EX92.
With the announcement of the finalists, Gibson Farm’s profile looks set to rise and speaking of their success, John Pye said: “To be shortlisted in the Best of Visions competition is a huge milestone for us. As a family business our ethos is to produce the highest quality product from cows that will last. Buttercup is a firm favourite within the herd; she is a strong, working cow who, even at 16 years old, just keeps on going.”
