Holstein UK Launch the Centenary Virtual Cow

As part of the Centenary Celebrations, Holstein UK are launching a fully interactive 3D version of the much loved model cow. The Society has always been at the forefront of innovation within the industry, both Nationally and Internationally through investments in novel, time saving services and web-based technology.

The launch of the Virtual Cow marks another World 1st for Holstein UK and provides a fitting legacy to mark our Centenary Celebrations. No other computer generated model in the world delivers the equivalent level of detail and interactivity, which will provide a valuable educational tool for breeders young and old.

The idea for the Virtual Cow was born following years of research and deep understanding of our members’ needs. The technology was finally discovered to create the required level of detail and functionality we demanded. Expert input has been provided by both the Research and Breed Development Departments of Holstein UK, and we are extremely proud of the final result which we are sure will aid the understanding of linear scoring and help develop the skills of our Young Breeders.

As well as the full 3D model, which can be spun through any axis, each of the standard 18 linear classification scores can be viewed individually. When viewing each linear a slider, as shown above, can be moved through all of the linear scores from 1-9 to illustrate the degree of the trait. Individual videos, illustrating the movement scores of locomotion from 1-9 are also available, along with three 3D spinning examples of Condition Scores of 1, 5 and 9.
