The Moorshard herd from Bridgwater, Somerset, were crowned as the winners of the 2024 Holstein UK National Premier Herd Award. The Miller Family were presented with the highly acclaimed award at UK Dairy Day and now welcome visitors to the Premier Herd Open Day on Wednesday 16th July 2025.

The 450-acre farm is currently run in a family partnership between Randolph and Marlene Miller and their son Brian. The herd was established in 1970s and the family started showing in the 1980s, attending a range of county and national shows. The family use prominent cow families such as Shower, Alicia, Amanda, Paradise and Belle. The herd is currently achieving an average yield of 10,812, 4.01% fat and 3.28% protein.

National Premier Herd Judge, and 2023 winner, Robert Wills of the Willsbro herd, visited each of the finalists and commenting on the Moorshard Herd he said “There was one herd that stood out to me above the rest and the deep pedigrees and years of breeding, combined with attention to detail was exemplary. The consistency from heifers to mature cow is what determined my decision to mark Moorshard as this year’s Premier Herd Winner.”
