Visit: Genus Bull Stud, Ruthin

The superb facilities at the Genus ABS bull studs in Ruthin, North Wales, and Whenby, North Yorkshire, showcase the technology behind our genetics.

180 bulls are cared for by dedicated teams, producing 35 trillion sperm cells per year across both sites. The units produced are distributed globally, resulting in 3,124 calves being born per day from semen produced at our Ruthin site.

The original Ruthin facility was built in 1946 by the Ministry of Agriculture and the initial stud consisted of just eight bulls. Almost 80 years later 50% of GB dairy products are derived from our genetics.

Alternative Visit: Eaton Hall, Grosvenor Estate

The Eaton Estate has been the home of the Grosvenor family since the 1440’s. The Eaton Hall Courtyard complex was created as part of a grand rebuilding scheme of Eaton Hall which began in 1870, commissioned by the third Marquess of Westminster. The Hall was refurbished into a Neo-Gothic palace and courtyard buildings and stables were added. In the late 1960’s, new uses were found for the redundant stables and today, events are hosted in the Courtyard throughout the year.
