Congratulations to member Tony Garnett of Garnett Farms, Fullersgate Holsteins
Tony Garnett DL, FRAgS, receiving his honorary degree of Doctor of Science (DSc) accompanied by Professor Tim Wheeler DL, Vice-Chancellor and Principal, University of Chester. The Award was from The University of Chester and the Presentation took place at Chester Cathedral in November 2019. Summer Herd Competition
As with all organisations, the Covid-19 restrictions have impacted the club’s activities since lockdown in March. However, whilst maintaining Covid-19 guidelines, the club managed to organise its annual Herd Competition, which was very was very kindly sponsored again by ForFarmers. A good number of entries came forward with over 20 herds taking part, ensuring Judge Andrew Hull (Fortland) had three intensive days of judging. The new class for non-registered herds also helped attract several first-time entrants and new members for the club.

Club AGM
New president John Barnett was welcomed to the club committee in the virtual AGM which took place in June and we are pleased to report that Member of the Year was awarded to Adele Fowler. The award acknowledges all the help and assistance she has given to the committee in organising the Calf Show and other events throughout 2019.

Condolences
The Western Holstein Club members pass on their deepest sympathy and respect to the families of members who have recently passed away: Mr George Lawrence, Mr Bert Ward and Mr Stan Price. Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time.
