Northern Ireland Re-Tagging

Holstein UK would like to ask Northern Ireland members to contact Membership Services when purchasing animals from Great Britain which then get re-tagged with Northern Ireland ear tag numbers.

The animal will remain registered with the original GB ear tag number as it’s Herd Book number and the ear tag field on the pedigree certificate will be updated to the Northern Ireland ear tag number.

The animal will retain its pedigree and registration status in either the main section or the supplementary section of the Holstein UK Herd Book. Any data such as milk records, classifications, PTA, DNA, and genomic information will also be retained.

To update any records, Northern Ireland members should contact Membership Services with their prefix and the purchase date of the animal. If available from the Ministry, a copy of the documentation showing the changes to the ear tag numbers should also be sent to Membership Services.

Ear tag numbers will then be updated on our systems and members are able to obtain a new certificate for the animal either online or by requesting for a new certificate to be printed and sent to the member showing the original Herd Book number and the new ear tag number.

For further information, or to update any records, please contact Membership Services on 01923 695200 or info@holstein-uk.org (9 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday).
