Central Counties Club News August 2019

Central Counties have been busy over the last few months hosting some fabulous club events.

We held our herd competition at the beginning of June which was very kindly judged by Tom Lomas of TLC Holsteins. Five of our best herds including JEG James (Chalkhill Holsteins), GB Sear and Son (Egginson Holsteins), RJ Rose and Son (Emmington Holsteins), RR Barrett and Son (Rettbar Holsteins) and AG Burton (Wrestony Holsteins) went head-to-head to try and earn their place in the Premier Pedigree Herd Competition. Tom was very impressed with the herds he visited and he would like to thank to all of the farms involved in the day. He said that many of the classes were very close to judge but Tom, and everyone at the club, would like to pass on their congratulations and best wishes to AG Burton and Phil Sharman for winning and representing Central Counties in next round of the Premier competition.

The rain came down hard the following week but it managed to clear for our annual stock judging evening which was kindly hosted by GB Sear and Son at Leighton Buzzard. Blaise Tomlinson was our master judge of two classes which were superbly turned out for everyone to score. It was a beautiful evening and we had a great turn out of people, including members from the Northampton Cattle Breeders, who were able to enjoy a fab buffet and endless amounts of cake to go with it, before announcing the winners of the evening. Congratulations to Olivia James for winning our junior stock judging cup and Margaret James for winning the open stock judging. A special thanks to Richard Sear and his family for all your hard work you put in to hosting a fabulous evening.

We look forward to hosting our Young Members Training Dayat RJ Rose and Son in Emmington on Sunday 1stSeptember 2019which is kindly being run by Becky Channing . This is a great opportunity for our younger members to learn something new about show preparation and showmanship, especially with our Club Calf Showcoming up only a few weeks later on Sunday 22ndSeptember 2019 at Rugby Farmers Mart, Stoneleigh. If you are interested in attending either of these events, please contact the club for more information.
